Katie Sveinson is an assistant professor in the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM) at Temple University in Philadelphia.

My research usually combines sport management and sociology of sport, focusing on sport consumer behaviour. Specifically, I investigate sport fandom from gender, culture, behaviour, and identity-based perspectives. This interested has stemmed from my own fandom, as a fan of many teams and sports (Green Bay Packers, Formula 1, Professional tennis – Go Serena!)

With so many women identifying as sport fans of varying level, there is a need to understand and support these fan bases on multiple levels. This is where I focus most of my work, and work towards gender equity in fandom. If you would like to read more about my research, you can head over to the research and publications section.
